“what’s the worse that can happen” is not elementary question. It can be a way to overcome the fear. You ask, you put the options on the “table”, and then you can ask other things about every option. For example, “ok, if option number one will occur, how am I going to deal with it”? “Have I handled something like this before? If yes, what skills did I use? If no, what skills will I need? Do I have at least some of these skills?”, “ what will i have as my support-system, internally and externally”?
We often see something as more catastrophic than it really is. By digging and “palpating” it as a hypothetical future-option, we often realize that it’s not going to be so catastrophic, and that we can handle it.
So, good question, Amy!
