I think that the way we see this has to do with how we see the "why" of writing. Do we (believe we) write to create something that has never been created? Do we write for ourselves first? Do we write to manage the processes that take place within us? What's our purpose?

It doesn't matter if this doesn't "solve any society's problems". There are many times that problems are solved and epiphanies come in the simplest way, in a phrase, in a breeze, during a walk, while discussing something common.
