A dream
that smells like rotten fruit.
You left it shrink
feeding time’s hunger.
It’s stuck in a bowl
on your kitchen’s table,
unable to ease
your whining anger.

It watches you calmly
as you try to convince it
that life is the bitch
who kicked it out of the game.
It’s funny how childishly
adults use the word “life”
when they’re afraid
to spell their own name.

“If this and that wasn’t or was…,
if he or she would have or wouldn’t
then I would have done it;
that’s for sure”!
The fruit gets older and older
wasting its juices
as you write and live in your head
a lie that keeps you immature.

Self-deception is a talent
the human species uses artfully.
Abandoned dreams, visions, goals
are victims of a bored will.
Kids, work, and other duties…
