There is an e-place called Medium,
but it hosts all sizes, for equilibrium.
It has some “small” and “large” behaviors;
readers who give, and some just “takers”.
There are dudes with thousands of followers
who follow almost no one but themselves.
Do they think they are the kings?
Can they take without giving?
I also see the pity-clappers.
Oh, they are funny “clever” puppets.
They just clap without reading.
Who told you that’s what I need?
Medium also hosts a lot of writers
who read just one line every other day.
And then there are the ones who play
inside its walls for their whole day.
Of course I also find the ones
who really connect and offer love.
Earnings and ego aren’t their first priorities.
If I don’t speak about them,
I don’t see reality.
There are editors who want to alter you
in a way you’ll forget who are you.
I don’t cooperate with them,
I don’t like my writing being “raped”.
I have no problem with suggestions;
these can make me feel new vibrations.
But when the guidelines of your Publication,
say “you can’t edit your piece after submission”,
or “we’ll form your story ’cause claps is our mission”,
I say “don’t bother asking for my contribution,
even if you have 50.000 daily visitors”.
I’ve rejected two proposals like that;
I wish them success, but I’ll walk my own path.
I don’t devalue what they offer,
I don’t see what I write as creations of a goddess,
but when somebody wants to form me
like plasticine to earn more money,
I say “thank you, I don’t need that”;
my personal writing style is for me important.
Of course, many people don’t like it,
and they are free to go wherever they feel connected.
It’s not that I don’t like claps!
But I want them from those who really have
coordination with what I express,
and we co-flow within a mutual give-and-take;
We make our progress holding hands,
contributing to each other’s journey and struggles.
So, I write with respect for the language I use,
for my self, and those who visit my Medium-house,
and if my personal writing style changes,
it is done as I myself go beyond the previous me,
and not because somebody else decides it!
Anyway, just as life and society,
Medium encloses a variety.
Wherever people gather up,
there’s a society’s miniature somehow.
There are all kinds of dishes on its menu.
Some taste like shit,
others bring up some virtues.
Of course, this is subjective;
it depends on one’s perspective.
Let’s be ourselves then,
and when writing-change happens,
let it come from the inside,
not because some people are hunting for clappers.
