It's true that we are hyperbolic and scared. This is why the world is also hyperbolic and fearful to a significant extent. What happens within the majority gets projected onto the world.

Fear leads us to follow certain people, systems, or anything else that appears to offer security. These entities exist precisely because of our fears; they are both products and reflections of that fear.

So, "they" may seem to take away our dreams and hopes, but at the same time, we relinquish them ourselves.
